The Early-Onset Osteoporosis Center

The Early-Onset Osteoporosis Center

The Early-Onset Osteoporosis Center (EOC) at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) focuses on rare forms of osteoporosis that affect young adults under the age of 50. The EOC is both a research program and a clinical program. The EOC is building upon knowledge acquired through our ongoing research to provide individualized, comprehensive, state-of-the-art clinical evaluation and personalized treatment plans for patients with early-onset osteoporosis.

Now Recruiting

The EOC is currently studying:

  1. The causes of and potential treatments for Pregnancy and Lactation Associated Osteoporosis (PLO or PLAO).
  2. New treatment approaches for premenopausal women with a history of idiopathic (unexplained) osteoporosis and fracture. For more information, see our Research section

Support the Center

The Early-Onset Osteoporosis Center is one of the few institutions working in this area of medical inquiry. More research is needed to increase our understanding of the clinical features and causes of Early-Onset Osteoporosis, and to develop optimal treatment approaches for this rare condition.
